Days 8/9

Yesterday was a long day and a alot happened, I'm too hungover to write a about the whole day. I'll just give you the highlights of arriving in Austria and what lead to my current state.

To my surprise, crossing the border was a (free) bicycle and pedestrian ferry!

I later snuck into a water park and took a shower. That feel great.

I rode untill till dark.

I was having trouble finding a suitable camp spot. At about 8:50 I am across a firehouse where I saw  8 or 9 firefighters drinking beer in a rec room.

I stopped in front and one of them saw me and come out and asked me what I needed.

They said I could use the lawn.

I went to the rest of the building to pitch my tent when one firefighters named Peter came out and asked if I would like a beer.

I went inside and hung out for several hours. I learned a lot about their station and the fundraisers they throw. I just missed their annual curling tournament...curling using empty beer cases in the parking lot. It's a big affair with 40 teams and brings out hundreds of spectators.

They asked me what drinking games we played in the States and I showed them a video of cornhole. They were very excited to make a set and give it a go. I assured them I would be back next year for the curling tournament.

I had planned on today being a big mileage day, but I'm hungover as a MF. The upside is, I made new friends and got to sleep on comfy couch under a roof.

I think I'm going to take a nap in my hammock today and try to catch up on sleep.
